Savings Goals¶
Set a savings target, contribute funds from any account, and track progress toward your goal.
Plan required
Savings Goals are available on the Pro plan. The Goals link appears in the sidebar and in the mobile More sheet under Net Worth only when your account has the Pro tier active.
1. Opening the Goals Page¶
Navigate to Sidebar → Goals on desktop, or go to More → Goals on mobile.
Click Add Goal to open the goal creation form.
2. Creating a Goal¶
Fill in the following fields:
- Goal Name: A short label for what you are saving toward, for example "Goa Trip Fund", "Emergency Reserve", or "MacBook".
- Target Amount: The total rupee amount you want to reach.
- Target Date (optional): A deadline for reaching the goal. When set, the progress card will calculate how much you need to contribute per remaining salary cycle.
- Linked Account: The account whose balance contributions will be counted toward this goal.
Click Save.
3. Logging a Contribution¶
Navigate to Sidebar → Goals and find your goal card. Click Add Contribution.
Enter the amount and the source account. The contribution is recorded as a goal contribution ledger entry. It debits the source account and credits the goal, so your net worth stays accurate.
Use a dedicated savings account
Create a separate Savings Account in the app (for example, "Goa Trip Savings") and link it to the goal. Transfer your monthly contribution from your salary account to this dedicated account via Add → Internal Transfer. The goal's progress bar will reflect the transferred amount automatically.
4. Reading the Progress Card¶
Each goal card shows:
- Saved so far: The total amount contributed
- Remaining: How much more is needed to reach the target
- Percentage complete: A visual progress bar
- Per-cycle target: If you set a Target Date, this shows how much you need to save each salary cycle to meet the deadline
5. Editing or Closing a Goal¶
Click the goal card's three-dot menu to edit the goal name, target amount, target date, or linked account.
To archive a completed goal, select Mark as Completed. This does not withdraw or move any funds. It simply removes the goal from your active list and marks it as done in the records.
Real-world use case
Priya wants to save Rs. 80,000 for a Goa trip in March, which is 4 salary cycles away. She creates a goal: Goal Name: Goa Trip, Target: Rs. 80,000, Target Date: 01 Mar. The app tells her she needs to contribute Rs. 20,000 per cycle. Each time her salary arrives, she transfers Rs. 20,000 to her Goa Savings account and logs a goal contribution. The progress bar moves from 0 percent to 25 percent to 50 percent to 75 percent and finally to 100 percent, giving her a visible commitment that is harder to ignore than a mental note.
